The Financial Times says that Nice has become one of the hottest spots to invest in on the Mediterranean, after a four year beautification programme that has transformed this vibrant, exciting city.

Nice Countryside

Stone buildings and bucolic tranquillity

The countryside around Nice contains some of the most spectacular geography in the world, with soaring mountains, ski resorts, ancient forests, meandering rivers and lazy Provence meadows full of the summer scents of lavender and thyme. This is the area of France that the great artists came to paint in because of its light, Arcadian splendour and romance. So it's no wonder that property buyers the world over flock to the hinterland of Nice and the Var to buy their dream homes.

The properties in this area are as you would expect, expensive and in most cases beautifully presented. It's easy to spend 5 million euros here for a honey-coloured stone mas on a couple of hectares of land. But even in this area there are (relative) bargins to be found.

The key areas in the Nice countryside are all within a 45 minute drive of Nice's International airport and TotallyRiviera has a selection of properties for sale within the airport catchment that range from 400,000 euros to 5.5 million euros. But you do get what you pay for here and the more expensive properties are truly impressive.
