The FT says Nice is an investor hotspot
The FT says Nice is an investor hotspot

The Financial Times says that Nice has become one of the hottest spots to invest in on the Mediterranean, after a four year beautification programme that has transformed this vibrant, exciting city.

Cimiez

Residential, tree-lined and class

Cimiez, after Mont Boron, is the most elegant quarter in Nice. It's up high behind the Old Town and Nice centre, and is famous for its Roman ruins and museums, including the Chagall and Matisse galleries.

The area is ostensibly middle class suburban with lovely tree-lined streets full of more modern apartment blocks interspersed with old villas and grand houses. It is not a vibrant area and has very little commercial activity, but it is peaceful and refined and most Cimiez apartments have good views of the sea because of the area's height.

There are excellent public transport links running through Cimiez, which make the Old Town and the main shopping areas are about a ten minute bus ride away. But this distance from the vibrant, colourful parts of Nice is an issue for many buyers who want to be within walking distance of the beach, restaurants and markets.

Buying in Cimiez could be a very canny move considering the area is full of respectable middle-class French and Italians, living in modern apartments blocks usually placed in fabulous peaceful gardens. Maintenance costs on the newer buildings are very low and they usually come with secure underground parking. Prices have consistently risen in Cimiez and look set to continue climbing.
