St Jean Cap ferrat needs no introduction. Home of the rich and famous, the villas of Cap Ferrat are some of the most prestigious pieces of real estate in Europe. The friendly village of St Jean has some great restaurants on the little port and is only a short stroll to a selection of sheltered beaches.
It was not until the 19th century that Saint Jean Cap Ferrat became a holiday resort. It used to be a small fishing harbour until two rich bankers decided to build their luxurious homes there.
This is one of the most expensive areas for real estate on the Riviera, with the vast majority of the building stock being made up of large prestigious villas sitting in large grounds with sea views. Though take advantage of a small number of apartments in the St Jean town centre, but be quick, these apartments are highly desirable and are rapidly snapped up.
Cap Ferrat has so much to offer, the circular coastal walk surrounding the entire headland is not to be missed. Whether its just an easy stroll out to the lighthouse, mini-Cap or the full circuit, est 2- 2 & 1/2 hrs one cannot help but relax along the way, swimming in the coves or admiring the impressive collection of villas clinging to the cliff faces.
Art lovers will be delighted to explore the surprising Ephrussi de Rothschild villa, set in the heart of extraordinary gardens (formal French gardens, Spanish, Italian, Stone, Japanese and Tropical gardens...).
